📋 Project Overview

A local homeowner in Alvaston reached out to East Renewables to modernize their home's aging electrical infrastructure and prepare for the transition to electric driving. The project involved a relocation of the main fuseboards and the installation of a premium EV charging solution.

🛑 The Challenge: Outdated & Crowded

The original setup featured multiple dated Wylex wired fuseboards located inside a kitchen cupboard. This was not only technically obsolete but also wasted valuable storage space. The home also lacked the necessary surge protection and capacity for a modern EV charger.

✅ The Solution: A Future-Proof Transformation

1. Reclaiming the Kitchen

We decommissioned the old units and replaced them with a neat junction setup, effectively handing the cupboard space back to the customer. All circuits were safely extended to the new location.

2. High-Spec Garage Installation

We installed a brand-new Proteus Consumer Unit in the garage. This modern board features:

Surge Protection Device (SPD): Safeguarding the home’s electronics from power spikes.
Upgraded Meter Tails: New, high-capacity tails were installed to handle the increased load of the EV charger.
Spare Capacity: The board is sized with room for future additions like solar PV or battery storage.

3. Hypervolt EV Charger (Hidden-Cable Finish)

For the EV charging, we installed the sleek Hypervolt unit:

Aesthetics: The unit features a stunning purple LED status light that looks great on the brickwork.
Expert Finish: By drilling through the wall discreetly into the garage, we ensured no visible cables were left on the front of the house.
Rigorous Testing: Every install is fully commissioned and tested to ensure 100% safety and compliance.
